Welcome...
I have great pleasure in confirming that a committee has been formed and are organising a Testimonial Year in 2010 to David and I am delighted to be involved as his Chairman.
It is indeed a rarity in this modern day era of professional rugby to remain loyal to a club for so long. Barnsey, however, has proved his sheer dedication to Bath Rugby, after having made his debut to the club from Harlequins back in 2000.
He has played over 200 games, in the ‘furnace ‘of the front row and is undoubtedly one of the most respected figures in English rugby. Not only is he hard working and committed on the pitch but also off it - being Chairman of the Professional Rugby Players’ Association (PRA ) for the past 5 years and last year climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise much needed funds for the RPA Benevolent Fund and the Tamara Johnson Trust Fund to name but a few!
A Testimonial Year gives us all a chance to not only recognise David’s contribution to rugby but also to help support his three chosen charities – The RPA Benevolent Fund, Forever friends NICU Appeal (RUH Hospital in Bath) and also Help For Heroes.
Finally, I would like to thank, in advance, all supporters of Barnsey’s Testimonial Year.
Best wishes,
David Elliott
